PTA Launch Dirbs System for Stolen and Smuggled Cell Phones

Recently PTA launched the Dirbs System for Stolen and Smuggled Cell Phones. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA has brought about the launch of the DIRBS system. DIRBS stands for Devices Identification, Registration and Blocking Regulation System (DIRBS). The main purpose of this system is all about block stolen, smuggled, and duplicated mobile phones inside Pakistan. This new system makes the use of distinct IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers in favor of each device. It would be helpful in identifying and monitoring as well as regulating the new devices. The IMEI of smuggled devices would be reported straight to cellular companies and will be blocked later by PTA.

This system will play an important role in removing the activities of cellphone theft and smuggling. This will be added upon with some increase in Government revenue too. In the first phase of the system processing, all the stolen and lost devices will be blocked. Hence, in the second phase, the devices of the users will be put on inspection.
