The markhor is named to be the national animal of Pakistan. The term Markhor derives from the Persian word which means Snake Eater. They are unique and are one of the most beautiful wild animals of Pakistan. They are much found in the regions of Northern Areas of Pakistan as most especially in the Chitral, as well as Ghizar and Hunza regions.
